Pasadena City College is offering a free one-day Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) class, a basic introduction to women’s self-defense, on Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

During the class, attendees will learn situational awareness and personal safety tips, as well as participate in basic self-defense techniques.

PCC Police Officer Tyler Robins will demonstrate self-defense techniques and each attendee will have the opportunity to practice the techniques on striking pads. Each attendee will also be provided with one-on-one instruction, ensuring a strong understanding of these basic techniques.

By the end of the class, attendees will have gained newfound confidence in themselves and their ability to ensure their own personal safety.

Officer Robins has served the PCC campus and the surrounding community for 10 years, a PCC statement said. He is a field training officer for the PCC Police Department and has been a certified RAD instructor for 5 years.

For the RAD class, gym clothes or any appropriate comfortable clothing and tennis shoes are recommended.

If you are interested in participating in this no-cost class, send an email to Officer Robins at tjrobins@pasadena.edu. Space is limited and is expected to fill up quickly.

The class will be held at Room 102, at PCC’s W Building, 1570 E. Colorado Blvd.
