Pasadena Convenes Public Hearing for Proposed $683.3 2016 Budget

Pasadena community members got their first chance Monday to speak to the city council about the recommended budget to run the city in fiscal year 2016-2017.

The city’s proposed budget is $683.3 million, including $85.5 million in capital improvements, $593.3 million in citywide operating costs and $58.5 million allocated to various operating companies. Estimated revenues are budgeted as $898.6 million, according to a summary provided by City Manager Michael Beck and Julie A. Gutierrez, Acting Director of Finance.

The budget up for discussion is $8.1 million more than the approved budget for the 2015 fiscal year, which ends on June 30, 2015.

The proposed budget for the general fund alone includes $150,672 in taxes and $73, 320 in earnings from a variety of sources, including licenses and permits, fines, rental income transfers and other sources. In all funds, the budget includes $754,600 in revenue as well as $85,544 in capital improvement program revenue and $58,511 in income from affiliated agencies, like the Rose Bowl Operating Company the Pasadena Community Access Corporation and the Pasadena Center Operating Company.
