This weekend, Pasadena celebrates Earth Day with a wide range of events. Check them out here, day by day!

Pasadena’s Throop Unitarian Universalist Church is on a month-long celebration called “30 Days for the Earth” that kicked off on March 26 with an Earth, Food and Justice worship event, education and engagement events including its Hidden City Neighborhood Walks, and action events such as a 30-day Go Straw-Free Challenge and Pasadena Ready for 100 that strives for 100 percent renewable energy use in Pasadena by 2035.

On Friday, April 21, SoCal Honda celebrates Earth Month with free gas for all hybrid vehicles in the Pasadena area. Through Earth Day, April 22, SoCal Honda dealers will be pumping free gas for all hybrid drivers no matter what type of hybrid you have.

The Helpful Guys in Blue will be popping up at the pumps not only in Pasadena but in various cities across Los Angeles County, Orange County and Riverside County. Generally, they’ll be at the pumps from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m., but stay tuned for clues on specific times and locations on Twitter @HelpfulHonda and www.facebook.com/SoCalHondaDealers.

SoCal Honda says it’s their way of encouraging sustainability and rewarding those who help keep the planet greener. SoCal Honda’s Helpful campaign is also celebrating 10 years of helpfulness in Southern California.

On Earth Day itself, Saturday, April 22, a Pasadena March for Science starts with a rally at Caltech at 7:30 a.m. and proceeds to Pasadena’s Memorial Park. Organized by Caltech researchers and other community organizations, March for Science is part of a worldwide event on Earth Day.

At 8 a.m., Athleta Pasadena leads an Earth Day Hike and Cleanup at the Eaton Canyon Natural Park. The organizer will provide trash bags and gloves, and all you have to do is show up in sensible hiking shoes, as this will also be a full hike until about noon. Eaton Canyon is a 3.6-mile hike through the beautiful mountains in Pasadena.

Parking will be available on site, but please RSVP through EventBrite so the organizers could get headcount as to how many people they’ll have to be waiting for at the parking lot. Assembly will be at the Park, at 1750 N. Altadena Drive in Pasadena.

From 4 to 7 p.m., the Pasadena eARTh Festival happens, featuring art, music, puppetry, poetry, climate talks and more. eARTh Festival is a family-friendly indoor/outdoor event at Throop Hall, spanning through the Learning Garden, and on the gracious Throop patio.
