Pasadena fared better than many local communities during the weekend’s heavy rains, authorities said, suffering no major traffic collisions, flooding or mudslides.

“Nothing significant,” reported Pasadena Fire Department’s Lisa Derderian.

In fact, said Pasadena Police Lt. Pete Hettema Monday morning, about the worst fallout was “confusion” about the Pasadena Half Marathon & 5K, which closed a number of city streets on Sunday.  The 13.1 mile running event went off as scheduled and saw hundreds of runners slogging through slick streets.

The storm is on track to move out a half day faster than originally predicted, the National Weather Service said today, saying sunny skies might return as soon as Tuesday afternoon.

Monday will likely see showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 4 p.m. on a a very cold day with a high of only 54. The chance of precipitation is 90%. There will likely be a southwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Tonight the chance of rain showers lessens to only 30 percent before 10 p.m.  The night will be mostly cloudy, with a bitter low around 39.

Tuesday is now expected to be mostly sunny, but very cold, with a high near 54.  Tuesday night, too, will be mostly clear, with a frosty low around 38.

The balance of the week is expected to offer up crystal clear skies but remain cold, gradually climbing to a high of 70 on Sunday.
