Family Law Attorney Mark Baer today announced that he has received the designation of “2013 Southern California Super Lawyer” in the ‘Family Law’ category published in Los Angeles Magazine. This was Attorney Baer’s second consecutive year of being nominated as a “Super Lawyer,” a top recognition that rates outstanding lawyers in Southern California who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Only 5% of all lawyers practicing in the State of California receive this honor.

Mark B. Baer is a family law attorney, mediator, and collaborative law practitioner, practicing law for over twenty years with an office in Pasadena, CA. His firm represents individuals on issues regarding family law, divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, restraining orders, paternity actions, and domestic partnerships.

“I’m honored to be recognized as a Super Lawyer by this publication which pays tribute to so many esteemed attorneys practicing law in Southern California,” states Attorney Baer. “I believe that being nominated as a Super Lawyer has contributed to my firm’s success over the past year.”
The selection process to receive Super Lawyer status uses a vigorous, multi-phased process in which peer nominations and evaluations are combined with third party research. Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicated areas of peer recognition and professional achievement. Those who qualify are named in the list published by Super Lawyers Magazine with an insert included in The New York Times, Los Angeles magazine and at www.superlawyers.com.

In the Southern California legal professional community and the legal online communities, nationwide and abroad, Attorney Mark Baer is one of the most well-known, highly-respected attorneys in Family Law. He is particularly well-known for his thought-provoking and often controversial articles, blogs, and TV and radio interviews focusing on Family Law issues. Over the past few years, he has been interviewed by numerous legal and business publications including the Forbes, the Wall Street Journal, the L.A. Times and San Gabriel Valley News. He’s appeared twice on KTLA’s “Inside the Law with Manny Medrano” and last March was a Keynote Speaker at the Divorce Expo, a program offering resources and information to the Detroit metropolitan community regarding positive and future-oriented options for divorce.

In addition to his numerous blogs about Family Law, last year, Mr. Baer published an article in the April 10, 2012 L.A. Daily Journal advocating the need to change the default for resolving family law disputes in America from litigation to some form of consensual dispute resolution. In the August 30th issue of Pasadena Star News, he published an article titled, “Realizing the Limits of Mediation,” defining the way in which attorneys should be used in a mediation context in Family Law.

Since 2008, Attorney Baer has written a column on psychology and family law for the San Gabriel Valley Psychological Association’s bimonthly newsletter. At the 2012 California Psychological Association (CPA) convention he presented, “What About Family Values?” facilitating rational problem-solving into an otherwise destructive divorce process. This year, Mark returns to the 2013 CPA convention to present, “The Cutting-Edge of Psychological Practice: Mental Health Professionals and Dispute Resolution.”

Coming up in April 2013, Mark will serve as a panelist at the American Bar Association’s section of Family Law 2013 Spring CLE Conference in Anchorage, Alaska. His presentation is titled, “Navigating the Emotional Waters of Family Law in Collaborative Practice.” For more information, please visit: www.markbaeresq.com.
