Pasadena Fire Dept. Units on Firelines in Calimesa, Sylmar Blazes

The Pasadena Fire Department called up additional personnel for duty this morning in preparation for anticipated fire activity in our region.

Coordinating resources for Area C Strike team(12 San Gabriel Valley Fire Departments) Pasadena received funding from the State to cover the costs for our resources and additional firefighters added in Glendale.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Area C Strike Team 1203A responded to Calimesa (southeast of Redlands).

Strike Team 1203A consists of a Battalion Chief and 5 Engines. Pasadena’s Battalion Chief and Engine 33 are included.

At approximately 11:00 p.m. Thursday night, 1203A was reassigned from Calimesa to respond to Sylmar where structures are threatened and mandatory evacuations are in progress. The humidity in Sylmar is very low (about 5%) and the wind is high (about 30 mph).
