Pasadena Housing Director William Huang is Hall of Fame Awardee

Pasadena Housing Director William Huang is set to be inducted in California Housing Consortium’s Housing Hall of Fame on Thursday, May 22.

Those who get inducted into the Housing Hall of Fame ” have made a profound impact in the housing sector” and “demonstrates a seminal or substantial contribution toward advancing the cause of affordable housing in California.”

The award honors Huang’s affordable housing achievements and serves as a testament to the commitment and expertise of Pasadena’s entire housing staff, the city said in a statement.

He will be the 17th inductee in the public sector category which include six members from the state legislature, a governor and a state treasurer.

Huang oversees the city’s affordable housing development, inclusionary housing, first time home-buyer, Section 8, Community Development Block Grant, career services and homeless programs.

He was the acting executive director and housing director of the Community Development Commission of the County of Los Angeles prior to coming to Pasadena.

Huang is also a licensed architect, has served on nonprofit boards including the Southern California Association of Non-Profit Housing and the Los Angeles Neighborhood Initiative, and currently serves on the board of the Foothill Workforce Investment Board and the board of governors of the California Housing Consortium.

The California Housing Consortium is the statewide”big tent” housing organization representing the development, building, financial and public sectors united in a non-partisan effort to advance affordable housing and community development across California.
