Pasadena is Off to the (Foot) Races

June 5 is Global Running Day and the City of Pasadena isn’t going to be left behind.

Through the initiative of Stride, a local physical fitness center; footwear store Run With Us, Dog Haus Running Club, and Pasadena Pacers, the City will convene its third Annual Global Running Day, a four-mile fun-run and scavenger hunt that’s free and open to all.

According to a Pasadena Global Running Day announcement, runners can decide to start their routes at 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., or 7 p.m. Runners are requested to RSVP for their chosen start time through EventBrite.

The run will start from Stride’s treadmill studio at 906 Granite Drive. There, runners will sign waivers, pick up a map of the running route, and their entry wristbands.

Runners will get have the opportunity to win prizes.

At each stop throughout the route, participants will halt to answer trivia questions, complete challenge,s and snap pictures to earn raffle tickets. The more tickets earned at each stop on their map, the more chances they’ll have to win prizes such as lululemon gear and free running shoes.

With the run completed at Stride, collected tickets will be dropped into the raffle choices of individual runners’ choices.

The Pasadena run coincides with the worldwide Global Running Day, a celebration of running that encourages everyone to get moving. The run welcomes all ages, although children must be accompanied by their parents at all times since no streets will be to car traffic during the run.

Runners will be using sidewalks and should be prepared to watch for traffic and stop at all posted lights and signs. Reflective running gear is advised.

Walkers are welcome, as long as they finish at the Stride before 9 p.m. Dogs are also welcome, but must be left outside during challenges in stores that do not allow dogs inside.

Winners in the raffle will be contacted within two days after the run.
