On Saturday, July 30, The Salvation Army in Pasadena, with the tremendous assistance of Sears, the Lion Club and Pasadena Police and Fire Departments, will provide back-packs stuffed with school supplies, thanks to the support of STAPLES in Pasadena and a $75 gift card to Sears for 120 local children. After a brief address of thanks to all the sponsors and volunteers who have made this special event possible, Captain Terry Masango of The Salvation Army’s Pasadena Tabernacle will supervise the passing out of the back packs at 8:30 am. At 9:00 am – one hour before Sears opens its doors to the general public – The assembled school children will be given the “run” of the store along with their parents to spend $75 for shoes and clothes to make sure they are as prepared as possible for successful school year.

Pasadena Tabernacle Advisory Board members, a constituency from the Pasadena Lions Club and Salvation Army staff and volunteers will be on hand to ensure that the children are safe and that they have a great shopping experience. “For many of these children, the opportunity for new clothes and new shoes are is not a common occurrence,” said Captain Masango of The Salvation Army. “Thanks to Sears and all of our other volunteers and supporters, these kids are going to get the head start to their school year they deserve.”

The Sears in Pasadena is located at 3801 E. Foothill Blvd. Pasadena, CA 91107. For media contact call Robert Brennan Director of Communications The Salvation Army Southern California at 818 648 9098 or email Robert.Brennan@usw.salvationarmy.org
