The Pasadena Superior Court Tuesday convicted a man of murder and assault with a deadly weapon almost three years he was involved in a Christmas Day 2012 crash in Pasadena that killed an 11-year-old boy from Daly City and his 25-year-old cousin.
Jurors found Darrell Lee Williams, 25, guilty of two counts of voluntary manslaughter and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon – a silver Dodge Durango he was driving that day.
Prosecutors said Williams was behind the wheel of the vehicle that rolled through a stop sign near Claremont Street and Marengo Avenue and was pursuit by police. The pursuit ended when the SUV smashed into a mini-van where 11-year-old Kendrick Ng and his cousin Tracey Ong Tan were passengers along with three other relatives. The crash happened near the 210 Freeway onramp from Marengo Avenue.
The impact killed Ng and Tan and injured the three others.
Authorities arrested Williams and he has remained behind bars since then.
Earlier that day, Victor McClinton, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department employee and youth sports coach, was shot and killed in an near where Williams ran through the stop sign.
The Superior Court scheduled Williams’ sentencing on December 9th.
