The Los Angeles County Coroner has identified the deceased in Monday’s pedestrian accident in the 600 block of North Los Robles Avenue as 29-year-old Luis Sanchez of Pasadena.

Sanchez, who was not in a crosswalk, was walking across the street from west to east at about 10:27 p.m. when he was struck by a black 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a 53-year-old Los Angeles man.

Sanchez sustained multiple blunt traumatic injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lieutenant Mark Goodman said that the police investigation suggests Sanchez was possibly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision, and this may have been a contributing factor to the incident.

Witnesses told police that Sanchez stepped off the curb directly in front of the vehicle as it was driving southbound.

The driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene and was not injured. Police said he was cooperative with the investigation and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The driver of the Chevrolet was not arrested.
