A Pasadena man was ejected from his car and died after an early morning traffic collision between two vehicles at the intersection of North El Molino Avenue and East Villa Street at about 6:40 a.m. Thursday.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Timothy Jon Carey, 51, of Pasadena.

Pasadena Fire Dept. Deputy Chief Bryan Frieders reported that a female passenger the car driven by Carey was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, while two others in the other were uninjured.

An off-duty Pasadena Fire Dept. Paramedic, Kari Jenkins, saw the wreck as she traveled to work and was able to render aid before another Fire dept. units arrived, Frieders said.

Carey’s gray Kia was heading eastbound on Villa Street and a white sedan heading south on El Molino Avenue collided with it, Pasadena police spokesman Commander Jason Clawson said.

The two men in the sedan stayed at the scene, Clawson said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
