Pasadena Man Named Chief Financial Officer of Commonwealth Business Bank Parent Company

Pasadena-based CPA J. Duncan Smith has been appointed as EVP and Chief Financial Officer of CBB Bancorp, Inc., the parent company of Commonwealth Business Bank.

Smith brings with him over 30 years of experience in banking and financial services companies,

He adds significant expertise to the CBB’s financial areas such as mergers and acquisitions, capital markets and process management, according to a recent CBB Bancorp statement. He also brings experience in shareholders’ relations and SEC reporting.

“We are pleased to have someone of Mr. Smith’s caliber to join our management team,” Joanne Kim, CBB Bancorp CEO, said. “His expansive knowledge and experience of the banking industry will provide guidance for a successful foundation for our company’s growth.”

Smith started his career in public accounting in the East Coast in 1981 and worked for several notable firms including Ernst and Young, Manufacturers Hanover Trust and Grant Thornton. He went on to become the CFO of several Philadelphia area financial institutions including Security First Bank, First Chester County Corporation, and Bryn Mawr Bank Corporation.

Most recently, he was EVP and CFO with Community Bank in Pasadena, which was recently purchased by CVB Financial Corporation Bank.

Smith received his undergraduate degree from Shippensburg University, and took his Masters in taxation and MBA from Widener University and Penn State-Great Valley.

He resides in Pasadena, where he is CEO and Managing Director of Aintree Partners USA Inc., a nationwide consulting services company advising small to medium businesses with a variety of CFO related services.
