On Saturday, October 28, the Pasadena Museum of History celebrated Contemporary History Makers awardees Ken and Tracy McCormick and Penny Plotkin for their civic passion, innovative design and charitable interests in Pasadena’s unique and rich heritage. They also introduced a new award: the Arroyo Service Award. Awardees Don and Nancy McIntyre were honored for their extraordinary impact on the Pasadena community.

The black tie event was held at the California Club and included more than 200 business and community leaders, civic officials, educators and friends of the Pasadena Museum of History. Cocktails and a lively silent auction started the event followed by a delectable three-course dinner and award ceremony.

Since 2000, Pasadena Museum of History has honored Contemporary History Makers for their contributions to Pasadena’s cultural community. A Contemporary History Maker is defined as an individual or business whose civic passion, innovative design, or charitable interests continue to shape Pasadena’s unique and rich heritage. The Contemporary History Makers are also recognized with Commemorative Tiles in front of the Museum’s History Center.

Pasadena Museum of History was founded as Pasadena Historical Society in 1924, just 50 years after the first members of the Indiana Colony settled along the banks of the Arroyo Seco. The original mission, which remains essentially unchanged today, was to collect, preserve, and exhibit materials that documented the founding and early history of the city.
