Pasadena Now’s articles, pictures and videos of the Tournament of Roses Parade and the Rose Bowl football thriller were viewed 615,280 times on January 2, 2017, Pasadena Now Publisher James Macpherson said on Tuesday.
That number jumped 52 percent over the January 1, 2016 readership totals of 403,120, he said.
Macpherson said that a large percentage of the readership on the company’s website is driven by social media and by Pasadena Now’s Facebook page, which has over 44,500 fans.
Hands down favorite video? The B-2 Stealth bomber videos, which garnered 80,909 views and 2,126 likes.
The single most read article during the parade was “As Has Been Usual Over Past Years, There Were After Parade Protestors,” which was read 13,752 times on Monday and drew 327 comments and shares.
The high readership was a welcome payoff for Pasadena Now’s eight-person team which worked hard from 4 a.m. through the final, winning field goal kick by USC at the Rose Bowl, Macpherson said.
Pasadena Now was co-founded by Macpherson and Candice Merrill in late 2003 and has been published, online, daily, ever since. It is now among oldest continuously published community news websites in North America.
