Pasadena Police Chief Recaps Last Week’s Major Crime Incidents

On November 22 at about 12:19 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to City Hall regarding a report of a male adult climbing the face of City Hall. Officers arrived and ordered the subject to stop his activity and return to the sidewalk. The subject refused and continued climbing the building, ultimately reaching the roof, where he was detained without incident. The suspect said he has always wanted to climb City Hall. The officers discovered the suspect was in possessed of a small amount of cocaine at time of the incident.

On November 22 at about 7:41 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded a business located in the 1500 block North Lake Avenue regarding a robbery investigation. On arrival, officers talked with the victim who said he was approached by two Black Males who pointed a handgun at him. The suspects demanded he open the register. The suspects took the cash and fled on foot. Fortunately, the victim was not injured. Our investigation is ongoing.

On November 23 at about 5:58 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 1700 block of Summit Avenue regarding shots fired at an occupied welling. On arrival, officers talked with the victims who said the suspects fired multiple gunshots at their home. Our investigation is ongoing. On November 25, at shortly before 8:00 a.m., two people occupied Lincoln Boulevard near John Muir High School, to protest the non-indictment decision in Ferguson, Missouri. Traffic on Lincoln came to a stop as protestors placed signs in the roadway. Pasadena Police officers arrived and asked the protestors to move to the parkway. The protestors complied with the directions of the officers and traffic began to flow. However, a short time later, a male subject walked back into the street and placed the signs in the road a second time. Pasadena Police officers asked the person to move to the parkway; however, he refused to comply with the officer’s directions. After a period of time and the subject’s steadfast refusal to move to the parkway, he was issued a citation for interfering. John Muir High School was not in session. Lieutenant Vasken Gourdikian was the on-scene supervisor.

On November 25 at about 8:00 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the area of Wyoming and Lincoln regarding a shooting. On arrival, officers located a Male Black victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head and shoulder. Pasadena Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital for medical treatment. Based on information from the hospital staff, the victim survived the surgery procedure and is recovering. Pasadena Police detectives responded to the location and started their investigation, which is ongoing. On November 26 at about 8:30 p.m., Pasadena Police officers monitored a protest, which started and concluded in the 300 block of Colorado Boulevard. The protestors were calm, non-violent, and organized as they walked to Old Pasadena. They were dissatisfied with the Ferguson Grand Jury’s decision in the Michael Brown shooting incident. There were no arrests or citations associated with this incident.

On November 29 at about 10:00 a.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 1700 block of Mentone Avenue regarding a shots fired investigation. On arrival, officers located shell casings and other evidence suggesting a firearm had been discharged. PPD officers also located a parked vehicle that was hit by gunfire. Fortunately, there were no injures associated with this incident.
