On November 16 at about 10:54 a.m., the Pasadena Police Department received a call of unusual circumstances in the 400 block of Emerson Street. On arrival officers talked with a witness (Female Adult) who said she was working in her flower bed and discovered a large bone. It was unknown the origin of the bone so the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office was contacted and responded to investigate. The coroner’s officer later determined the bone belonged to a large animal, possible a cow.

On November 23 at about 1:00 a.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 1100 block of East Walnut Street to assist the Fire Department at the scene of a structure fire. On arrival, officers assisted with traffic control while the firefighters knocked down the fire.

On November 24 at about 10:23 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the area of Orange Grove Boulevard and Mar Vista Avenue regarding shots fired (heard only). On arrival, the officers check the area; however, they were unable to locate any evidence of a crime.

On November 24, at about 11:16 a.m., the Pasadena Police Department received a call regarding a female preparing to jump off a bridge onto the freeway below. The caller believed the female was in the area of Fair Oaks Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard, but was not completely certain. Pasadena Police Sergeant Beene coordinated a search of the overpasses in the area identified by the caller. Moments later, Pasadena Police HOPE Officer Elgin Lee was patrolling the overpass near Orange Grove Boulevard and Pasadena Avenue, when he observed a female subject matching the description of the potential jumper.

As Officer Lee approached the suicidal subject; she immediately started climbing the overpass safety fence at Orange Grove Boulevard & the 210 Freeway. The suicidal subject’s upper body was over the top of the fence when Officer Lee grabbed her legs and pulled her to safety. The subject was subsequently detained on a WIC 5150 hold. If not for the quick actions of Officer Lee, the female subject would have jumped from the overpass on to the 210 freeway, likely resulting in her death. The incident was monitored by the on-duty Watch Commander, Lieutenant Jason Clawson, and supervised by Sergeant Dennis Beene.

On November 24 at about 7:30 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 800 block of Merritt Street regarding a possible stabbing investigation. On arrival, officers talked with the victim, a Male Hispanic Adult (Pasadena Resident), who said he was in the area of El Mira Street and Wright Avenue, when he observed a group of male Hispanic subjects loitering in the area. The victim said he was confronted by two Hispanic males, who produced a knife and demanded the victim’s property. The victim refused and a physical altercation subsequently ensued. The victim was stabbed several times in the head and torso by the suspects.

The suspects then removed the victim’s property and left the area. Under the command of Sergeant Robert Tucker, Pasadena Police officers check the area; however, they were unable to locate the suspects. The victim was transported to a local hospital and received medical treatment for his injuries. If you have any information about this incident, please call Pasadena Police Lieutenant T. Rojas at (626) 744-4241.

On November 26 at about 3:00 p.m., officers assigned to the Pasadena Police Department’s Special Enforcement Section (SES) and the San Gabriel Valley Safe Streets Taskforce (SSTF) served a search warrant at 1161 North Garfield Avenue. The location has long been a nuisance in the community plagued with narcotics activities and a gathering point for local gang members. During the warrant, several individuals were contacted, including the subject of the search – Corey Lyn Kennedy (a known local gang member).

During the search, officers and taskforce members located evidence of marijuana sales. Kennedy was arrested for possession of marijuana for sales, a felony. Edward Lee McFadden III (a local known gang member) was at the Garfield Avenue residence and was arrested for an outstanding attempted murder warrant (McFadden was wanted for attempting to shoot the mother of his child and a male companion in Mid-October 2013). Lastly, Markees Darshawn Goldsmith was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant. All three suspects were booked at the Pasadena jail. The served warrant was supervised by Pasadena Police Sergeant Bobby Crees.
