Police Say Pasadena Man Admits Stabbing His Mother to Death

At about 9:16 p.m. Monday the Pasadena Police Department received a call from a man stating he killed his mother in a residence in the 1100 block of North Mentor Avenue.

Police dispatch kept the suspect on the line while officers responded to the scene, authorities said.

Upon arrival, officers ordered the suspect out of the house.

The suspect surrendered to officers without incident.

Officers located a victim inside the residence, suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Pasadena Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office also responded and took custody of the body.

The suspect, Alex Evans, was arrested and transported to the Pasadena city jail where he was booked for murder, California Penal Code Section 187.  He is being held at the Inmate Reception Center in Los Angeles on $2 million bail.

The motive for this tragic murder remains under investigation by Pasadena Police detectives.

The victim’s name is being withheld until next of kin has been notified. The victim is an adult female in her 60’s.
