Authorities are still waiting for the coroner to determine the cause of death of a Fontana man, whose body was discovered in Pasadena in July.

The body of Ellis Ray Barnes, 46, was discovered shortly after 6 p.m. on July 13 in the 200 block of South Arroyo Parkway.

According to police, Barnes body was located between two buildings, in a secluded area.

The Pasadena Fire Department was called in to extract the body which was turned over to the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

According to Pasadena Police Lt. Jason Clawson, the body was badly decomposed and there was no sign of foul play.

A spokesperson with the coroner’s office said the cause of death has been “deferred,” which means more tests must be performed.

The coroner’s office should have more information after officials receive the results of those tests sometime next month.

“This case remains under investigation pending final determination of death by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office,” Clawson said.

Anyone with information about the death is encouraged to call the Pasadena Police Department’s Detective Bureau at (626) 744-4522.
