Pasadena police are investigating whether a 38-year-old man who was arrested Tuesday in Los Angeles for a shooting incident has something to do with his own grandfather’s disappearance about a month ago.

The grandfather, Dawud Karriem, 87, lived in the 1100 block of Elizabeth Street in Pasadena but neighbors haven’t seen him since February 7, leading them to report he was missing.

A report by KCBS said family members told Pasadena police officers Karriem was last seen with his grandson, Raheem Karriem, in Pasadena. A neighbor reportedly said he heard them arguing before the grandfather went missing.

Raheem Karriem was arrested by Los Angeles police after he was allegedly involved in a shooting incident on Wright Street in downtown LA where a man died. He is being held on $2 million bail.

Raheem told investigators earlier he didn’t know where his grandfather was. Now Pasadena Police are calling Raheem a “person of interest” in his grandfather’s case.

“We’re certainly not ruling anything out at this point,” Pasadena Police Lt. Jesse Carillo told CBS. “Foul play, disappearance, we just don’t know.”

The CBS report said Raheem is a parolee who had been in and out of jail mostly for financial crimes.
