Pasadena police said late last week that the number of crimes reported in Pasadena at the six-month mark for 2015 has increased 16% over last year at this time.

The year-to-date comparison with the last three years shows the biggest category increase was burglaries. The disturbing increase in rapes continued in June, up 22% over 2014.

Murders have fallen 67%, statistically, from last year’s three to only one so far this year.

The monthly report said a total of 2,386 crimes were reported by the Pasadena Police Department from January 1 through June 30. This compares to 1,960 for the same period in 2012, almost a 22% increase.

June, 2015 saw a substantial jump over June, 2014. A comparison of the monthly totals showed the June just ended saw a 39% increase in reported crime in its 30 days over June of 2014.

The Department’s “Preliminary Monthly Statistical Report” is based on calls for service data and does not present the information in the same format as the federal government’s Uniform Crime Report.
