A 41-year-old Pasadena man suffered a small cut to his eyebrow and a chipped tooth after a suspected robber hit him in the head using a bottle opener in the victim’s garage Monday morning.

The victim encountered the suspected robber in the garage in the 1600 block of Las Lunas Street at about 10:32 a.m., Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema said.

The victim had slipped into his car and noticed some items had been moved from the glove compartment. He also spotted a shadow of what he said was a man in the garage, and went after the intruder with a metal rod.

Hettema said the resident missed the suspect, who hit the victim in the head with the bottle opener that had been in the glove compartment.

The suspect then pushed the garage door open and ran away, leaving behind a duffle bag containing stolen items.

Officers are still investigating the incident.
