The Pasadena Rose Poets are holding their First Book Launch of the Rose Poets Collection 2019 on Friday, November 15, 6:30 p.m. at Red Hen Press, 1540 Lincoln Avenue in Pasadena.

The Rose Poets authored 15 poetry books and other works including novels, memoir, non-fiction, essays, and plays. Their poems have appeared in numerous publications, including Coiled Serpent, Rattle, Altadena Poetry Review, Journal of Modern Poetry, Proximity, Waxwing, Quarterly West, Mutha Magazine, and Collateral.

The majority of the poets read in national and international poetry events. They are also known as “Citizen Poets” who offer the gift of poetry during the three-minute comment portion at Pasadena City Council meetings. Their backgrounds include experience as high school teachers, college professors, lawyer, public ad relations, business owners, publishers, writers, editors, screenwriters, filmmakers, playwright and librettist (opera).

The Pasadena Rose Poets were established by Gerda Govine Ituarte in June 2016 to add a poetry component to the “Our Town” public art project funded by the City of Pasadena’s Cultural Affairs Division, along with partner Side Street projects via a National Endowment for the Arts Our Town public art project.
