Pasadena Rotary Club Presents Jan Sanders, Pasadena Public Library Director

The Rotary Club of Pasadena speaker will be fellow Rotarian Jan Sanders on the topic “Selling Wall Phones in a Cell Phone World! Staying Market Relevant”. She will be introduced by Florence Helmberger. Lunch, meeting and presentation on Wednesday, August 24th, 2016, begins at 12:00 p.m. at the University Club of Pasadena, 175 N. Oakland Ave., Pasadena. The public is welcome to attend no reservations necessary check in at registration. Luncheon tickets are $31.

For the past 11 years, Jan Sanders has led the Pasadena Public Library through some challenging, ever-changing times. Find out how she and her staff strive to keep current and relevant, learn some things you might not have known about many Pasadena neighborhoods, and improve your own “library literacy.” She promises to sprinkle in her usual rasher of stories, so it should be a lively time!

Jan Sanders is winding down her days as Director of Libraries and Information Services for the City of Pasadena. She has been in libraries for more than 45 years, serving as children’s librarian, bookmobile librarian, branch manager, community college librarian, and library construction supervisor before becoming a director in 1990.

Because she believes a librarian is first and foremost accountable to the community she serves, Jan is active in a number of community organizations. She has been a board member and committee chair for Pasadena Rotary Club, a past member of the Vestry at All Saints Episcopal Church, and served on the boards for Leadership Pasadena and the Pasadena Museum of History. Currently she is on the Pasadena: City of Learning Committee, Mayor’s committee and also serves as advisory board member for the library science programs at both the Pasadena City College (PCC) and the University of Southern California (USC).
