A 71-year-old Pasadena resident pulled a robber out from under his truck then fended off the man and his partner off in brazen robbery attempt Tuesday evening.
Police said the man’s wife saw flashing red lights and heard noises from their driveway in the 1100 block of Brookmere St. about 7:29 p.m. and alerted her husband.
The man rushed to his truck parked in the driveway, where he saw two feet protruding and heard a grinding noise, according to Pasadena police Lt. Pete Hettema.
The resident pulled on the ankles of the man under his truck and dragged him. The suspect stood up and confronted the resident with a reciprocating saw.
A second suspect appeared and grabbed the resident by the head, Hettema said.
During the fight with the suspects, the resident pulled out a knife to defend himself. The suspects fled the scene in a Gold Ford Explorer.
The resident was not injured.
Police believe the suspects were trying to steal the catalytic converter from the resident’s truck.
No suspect information was available.
