Join the Pasadena Symphony Association for an unforgettable evening of enchantment and romance on Saturday, September 28, 2019 as they host the annual Moonlight Sonata Gala. This year’s elegant soiree will light up Centennial Square, set against the iconic dome of Pasadena City Hall. The evening’s festivities will kick off with an elegant courtyard reception followed by a luxe dinner and program under a starry sky in Centennial Square, and will conclude with dancing into the night. The centerpiece of the event will be an awards ceremony honoring Clara Maarse and Jacob Maarse Floral Design and City of Hope, and musical performances by distinguished musicians led by Music Director David Lockington and Resident Pops Conductor Larry Blank. True to the organization’s mission, performances by students from the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra will be highlighted throughout the evening.

Music Director Lockington will host the evening’s program as guests enjoy a sumptuous dinner courtesy of Parkway Grill. To top off the elegant affair, partygoers will dance the night away to Tony Galla and the Usual Suspects, a six-piece band who will be performing songs inspired by Frank Sinatra and the Great American Songbook.

The Pasadena Symphony Association is thrilled to honor this year’s two outstanding luminaries. Clara Maarse will be recognized as Philanthropist Luminary for her long charitable history with the Pasadena Symphony Association and the greater Pasadena community. Maarse has brightened the lives of Pasadena residents through the work of her family’s floral design company, Jacob Maarse Floral Design, for nearly half a century. The gala will also honor City of Hope as Community Luminary for their commitment to the research and treatment of life-threatening diseases as well as their generous charitable contributions to the arts, which have encouraged the Pasadena Symphony and POPS to flourish as the region’s premier source for live symphonic music.

Tickets to the Moonlight Sonata Gala are limited. Individual tickets start at $275 and may be purchased by visiting or by contacting Jennifer Allan Goldman, Development Associate at or (626) 793-7172 ext 45.
