A premier local theatre powerhouse couple will talk about the artistic directorial process during the open-to-the-public Pasadena Rotary Club Luncheon on Oct. 24.
Julia Rodriguez-Elliott and husband Geoff Elliot, co-founders of the local theatre A Noise Within, 3352 E. Foothill Blvd. Pasadena, will address the Rotary Club about behind the scenes theater processes including the art of directing.
Since A Noise Within opened in Pasadena in 1991, Rodriguez-Elliot has directed more than 40 productions including Man of La Mancha, King Lear, The Dance of Death and Oliver Twist.
She has directed at Grove Shakespeare Festival, American Conservatory Theatre, and California Theatre Center. She also leads workshops for youth and guest lectures at the CalArts, American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Cal State University, and University of California.
She won the 2005 National Latina Business Women’s Association’s Award and the 2010 Fifty Women of Influence in the San Gabriel Valley Award.
Geoff Elliott had also directed many theater shows. Some of his directing credits include Arcadia, All My Sons, The Tempest, The Dance of Death, and Julius Caesar.
Elliott has also performed major roles for the American Conservatory Theatre, South Coast Repertory, Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, California Shakespeare Festival, and more, as well as productions at A Noise Within.
The Pasadena Rotary Club has over 200 members that are dedicated to contributing to the well-being and growth of the community, region, and world.
The luncheon will be at the University Club, 175 N. Oakland Avenue in Pasadena. The buffet lunch is $33, with complimentary valet parking. No RSVP is required.
