The City of Pasadena is offering Pasadena Water and Power customers the opportunity to pre-purchase a rain barrel and conveniently pick it up at a one-day distribution event on Saturday, April 9, 2016.
The rain barrel distribution will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Lake Avenue Church, at 393 N. Lake Avenue in Pasadena.
To be eligible for rebates, PWP customers must pre-purchase rain barrels in advance by April 7. Shari Thomas, PWP Interim General Manager, said the cost of a rain barrel is approximately $85 but free with a rebate offered by PWP’s supporting partner – the Metropolitan Water District.
Proof of purchase is required to receive the rebates at www.socalwatersmart.com.
Rain barrels generally hold about 40-90 gallons of rainwater and are a simple way to capture rain water as it flows off rooftops, and store it for irrigation needs.
On the rain barrel distribution event, PWP is also hosting a free Rainwater Harvesting Class from 9 to 10 a.m.
The class will also cover topics such as installation of the rain barrel, water conservation techniques and other related topics.
