Reports indicate union reps and striking drivers are blocking the bus facility near John Muir High School after bus drivers working for First Student, Inc., who provide all the bus service to Pasadena Unified, called a strike early Thursday morning.

Pasadena Unified spokesperson Hilda Ramirez Horvath released a statement this saying, “Contract bus drivers employed by First Student have gone out on strike this morning. This affects bus routes serving PUSD students. If your child uses First Student buses, we ask that you make alternate arrangements to get them to school today. We are working with our provider to resolve the situation quickly and will provide an update as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

Police Lt. Pete Hettema said picketers, union reps and management have been briefed and are abiding by the law in a peaceful strike.

Buses are being blocked temporarily, but can leave the yards with “delay.”
