Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) is celebrating Public Power Week (#PublicPowerWeek),Oct 4-10 along with more than 2,000 community-owned utilities in the nation.

“PWP, your local Public Power utility, puts the people of Pasadena first, and Public Power Week gives us the chance to emphasize the advantages of locally-generated, locally-owned, power to our citizens,” said Interim General Manager, Eric Klinkner.

As a not-for-profit utility, PWP is able to provide its customers with some of the lowest rates in the region, and focus priority on providing reliable power and high-quality water to residents within Pasadena and parts of Altadena.

PWP wants to celebrate the significance of this week by partnering with the community on how to be better prepared. All week long, PWP will be sharing tips on Facebook and Twitter including: key preparedness items at your residence and in your car, how to sign-up for outage updates, and the importance of notifying PWP if you are a customer on an electronically-operated life support system.

To thank our customers for being prepared, PWP will be giving disaster preparedness backpacks to Pasadena residents who share a photo of their preparedness.

For photo submission guidelines or to learn more about how you can be prepared, visit www.PWPweb.com/emergency_prep.
