Pasadena Water Program Offers Residents LED Light Bulbs at Nearly Half-Cost

Published on Friday, July 17, 2015 | 4:34 pm

Pasadena Water and Power residential electric customers can purchase LED light bulbs at nearly half-cost through the PWP LED WebShop, as part of the campaign to encourage use of the energy-efficient and environment-friendly lighting device.

Under the program, PWP will pay up to $5 per LED light bulb and up to $50 for each household per year.

To further encourage visibility of the new LED WebSHop, the utility will be mailing residential customers a sample LED light bulb and a resource guide. The guide contains useful information about various energy and water incentives available to help customers save money and conserve water and energy.

The PWP LED WebShop, www.energyfederation.org/pasadena/default.php, contains tips and information about the difference between LEDs, CFLs and incandescent bulbs. The WebShop also guides the site visitor on how to purchase LED bulbs and select from about a dozen LED light bulb options for the home.

LED lights in recent years have taken the lighting industry by storm, not only because they cut power costs while producing more light than incandescent bulbs and last longer, but also because they contain no mercury and other pollutants.

The PWP LED WebShop also contains a list of collection sites where residential and business customers can drop off their incandescent and fluorescent bulbs for safe disposal.
