Pasadena’s Dog Haus Continues Its Nationwide Expansion, Looking to Double in Size in 2019

Dog Haus, the gourmet hot dog chain that started eight years ago in Pasadena, is continuing its nationwide expansion in 2019 by adding stores in six states and breaking ground in three, the company announced Thursday.

Co-founder Dog Haus Partner Andre Vener said the expansion would double the chain’s size by the end of 2019, a “huge moment of growth” for the brand.

“We’re looking forward to introducing our lively atmosphere, chef-driven menu and craft beer program to customers around the country, as we’re true believers that anyone who walks through our doors falls in love with the Dog Haus experience,” Vener said.

The expansion will result in new stores across the country, with both new and longstanding franchisees opening locations in California, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, New York and Texas, the company said.

In Texas along, Dog Haus will open up to 50 locations over the next five years, four of them opening in 2019 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

In California, five locations are opening in Orange County next year, and three more are opening in San Diego County.

Dog Haus will also be bringing its gourmet hot dogs, sausages and burgers for the first time to Kentucky, Louisiana, and New York next year, although a pop-up location did open in New York City last June.

Dog Haus, founded by partners and longtime friends Vener, Hagop Giragossian and Quasim Riaz, opened its first location in Old Pasadena in 2010, on the corner of E. Green Street and S. Raymond Avenue. The store, now known as Dog Haus Biergarten Old Pasadena, later moved to a location Hill Avenue at Union Street where it has been ever since.

The store is Dog Haus soon gained critical acclaim for their signature all-beef hotdogs and handcrafted sausages with no added nitrates, 100-percent black angus beef burgers, and fried chicken sandwich – products that are made with hormone- and antibiotic-free meat and served on grilled King’s Hawaiian rolls.

With the brand’s mission to sustainably feed everyone who walks through their doors, Dog Haus also offers plant-based burgers and sausages. Guests at their locations can also choose from a wide selection of craft beers, including local favorites.

The company began franchising in 2013, with a location opening in Burbank in August that year.

In May 2015, Dog Haus opened its 10th store, and the first out-of-state store, in Centennial, Colorado. In July that year, it sold its 100th franchise in Las Vegas.

In November 2016, the company reached another significant milestone when it signed a deal with American Development Partners to open up to 305 locations in 12 states across the U.S.
