Pasadena’s downtown will be bright and colorful on Saturday, June 8 with the return of Old Pasadena’s BoldPas: A Day of Art & Play and Playhouse District’s Playhouse Block Party. Both events will kick-off at noon and offer compelling opportunities for the public to enjoy art, music, and dance not to mention food and libations.

Free transportation will be provided between events.

In its third year, BoldPas: A Day of Art & Play will take place from noon to 8 p.m. in Old Pasadena’s unique network of pedestrian alleys. The free, one-day only event will showcase 17 temporary art installations, giving visitors a chance to encounter art that is BOLD – in color, scale, materials, and concept.

The event’s selected artists will be on hand throughout the day to interact with the public and showcase their work.

In addition to the art installations, the Armory Center for the Arts will host numerous hands-on activities with ¡Descubra! while sp[a]ce gallery at Ayzenberg offers free admission and demos in conjunction with its eclectic exhibition ROBOT REMIX. Old Pasadena merchants will offer art activities inside their businesses while showcasing their own installations on their storefronts.

Come stroll, play with the art, snap photos, and experience historic Old Pasadena with new eyes! Learn more at OldPasadena.org/BoldPas. Follow the fun @OldPasadena #BoldPas.

The Playhouse Block Party is sponsored by the Playhouse District Association and the Pasadena Playhouse. Last year’s inaugural event was a smash hit and organizers of this year’s event plan to build off that success with more than 20 performances on two stages, guided tours, interactive activities by local arts organizations and community partners, not to mention food and libations and the return of the “silent disco” dance party.

Collaborating organizations for the Playhouse Block Party include the Pasadena Museum of History, Pasadena Chalk Festival, USC Pacific Asia Museum, Southern California’s Children’s Museum, Kidspace Museum, The Huntington, Aquarium of the Pacific, Caltech, Peterson Automotive Museum, and more. From noon all the way until 10:30 pm, Pasadena Transit will be adding free shuttle service every 6-8 minutes along Route 10 to connect the two events. The main shuttle stops for BoldPas & the Playhouse Block Party will be along Colorado Boulevard at Raymond and El Molino, respectively.
