Stantec, an international engineering and design consulting company based in Edmonton, Canada, has signed a roughly 29,000-square-foot lease renewal and expansion at Pasadena’s Gateway Plaza, a 13-story, a 281,882-square-foot office property located at 300 N. Lake Avenue, a report by real estate news outlet Connect California said Tuesday.

Because of the deal, the Class A Pasadena office building is now at 100-percent occupancy.

Stantec has been a tenant at Gateway Plaza since 2014. The global engineering firm’s newest lease terms are for seven years, and it will be expanding into the building’s remaining vacancy of nearly 3,000 square feet, according to the report.

Upon completion of tenant improvements, Stantec will expand into the new space beginning in October, the report said.

Stantec was represented by Lee Kiziak, Director of Stantec Corporate Real Estate, as well as JLL’s Matt Perrigue and DJ Goldberg. Avison Young’s Andrew Berk and Chase Gordon represented the owners of Gateway Plaza.

“In addition to the growing tech community here, the City of Pasadena has come into its own as a regional leader for attracting architecture, engineering and construction firms,” Gordon told Connect California.

Located within the core of Pasadena’s business district, Gateway Plaza is complemented by and exterior plaza with extensive landscaping, fountains, and outdoor seating.

Nearby, South Lake Avenue features three blocks of retailers and various specialty shops and boutiques. More than 600 businesses are located through Lake Avenue in the city’s financial district.
