Pasadena is getting ready to rumble.

This weekend is a big one on the Rose Bowl gridiron — the PAC 12 Conference with the UCLA Bruins vs. the Utah Utes on Friday and a Pasadena favorite, the annual Turkey Tussle on Saturday.

Ahead of the matchups, Pasadena’s Quarterbacks club is hosting a luncheon featuring guest speakers Mark Harlan, University of Utah’s athletic director and Turkey Tussle coaches Dejuan Shamburger, Pasadena High School head football coach and Antyone Sims, John Muir High School head football coach.

Doors open at 11:00 a.m. and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. The program begins at noon. Pasadena’s Quarterbacks club is located at University Club, 175 N. Oakland, Pasadena, CA. Cost to attend is $28 for members and $33 for non-members.

UCLA Welcomes Utah to the Rose Bowl for the Pac-12 Conference matchup on Friday, Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised by ESPN.

The Bruins have split the past six meetings with Utah, but have lost the last two played in Pasadena in 2016 (52-45) and 2014 (30-28). The teams last played in the Rose Bowl on Oct. 22, 2016, a 52-45 Utah win.

Harlan, a Los Angeles native, was named director of athletics at the University of Utah in June, Harlan brought more than 20 years of athletics administration experience at five universities to his new post, most recently four years as the athletics director at the University of South Florida.

On Saturday at 11:00 a.m. fans will flock to the annual Turkey Tussle homecoming football game between Pasadena High School and John Muir High School at the Rose Bowl.

The rivalry football game between two high schools in Pasadena began in 1947. Pasadena’s Shamburger, a familiar face on the football field, is looking for a win after last year’s loss to Muir. A Pasadena native and PHS graduate, Shamburger was named head coach in 2016,

Sims, who was named John Muir’s head football coach in 2015, also graduated from the high school football team he now leads.
