Pasadena’s Trattoria Neapolis Out, Orange County’s Bru Grill In

 

Orange County’s Bru Grill is making moves into Pasadena, landing a new location on Lake Avenue where the beautiful Trattoria Neapolis used to be.

 

Trattoria closed on February 1, weeks after a menu and chef overhaul which brought in chef Clinton McCann and dropped much of the pasta in favor of an Italian steakhouse concept. The swap didn’t work and the gorgeous restaurant with its amazing interior sadly folded.

 

When it did say goodbye and thank you, Trattoria’s management said they were proud of the restaurant’s food, drink, service and ambiance.

 

“We are grateful for the reviews and awards we have received. We appreciate our wonderful staff for all their hard work. We thank our fantastic customers for all their support. After two and a half great years Trattoria Neapolis will permanently close. It has been a true pleasure,” said the Goodbye Sign.

 

Bru Grill is getting into that space, says LA Eater, to bring into Pasadena its comfort food options – burgers, pizzas and steaks, and craft beer. The Orange County Register reports restaurant’s Lake Forest outlet has 100 beers available with regional wines to boot. The outlet’s retail market space also offers takeaway sales.

 

As to whether Pasadena continues the trend still remains to be seen.

 

Blogger Victor Caballero writes Bru will “raise the stakes on an already burgeoning area, which includes some recent addition of Paul Martins, Del Frisco, and upcoming Arbour and Urban Plates.”

 

No opening date on the location at 336 S. Lake Avenue has been announced.
