Pasadena-based Wescom Credit Union will be a surprising few lucky holiday shoppers beginning on Saturday, December 3, by picking up the tab when they go to buy their Christmas tree this season.

The company announced it will pay for shoppers’ tree selections at 14 Christmas tree lots throughout the Southland, at up to $100 per customer, as a way of showing Wescom’s brand of kindness and spreading holiday cheer.

Each of the pop-up lots will give away $2,000 worth of Christmas trees to unsuspecting customers.

Wescom’s mobile banking branch, Big Blue, will also make an appearance at one of the lots. Shoppers who take a picture with Big Blue and tag it #WescomBigBlue are automatically entered to win a $25 Wescom Visa gift card between now and December 31, 2016.

“A little bit of kindness goes a long way, so we’re excited to be giving away trees again this year as part of our Wescom Kindness program,” said Deena Otto, Wescom Credit Union Senior VP Administration. “We know the holidays can be a stressful time budget-wise for many, and we can’t wait to surprise people and help make their season brighter. This is just one of the many ways that Wescom helps to improve the communities we serve.”

Wescom said branch managers will make surprise appearances at local Christmas tree lots between December 3 and Christmas Day to pick up the tab for lucky customers.

Earlier this year, the credit union displayed its Wescome Kindness marquee with its second annual “Wake Up with Wescom” daylight saving time event, surprising customers and paying for their coffee and breakfast tabs at 19 different The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf locations throughout Southern California.

Wescom, headquartered in Pasadena, has 22 branches that provide essential banking solutions to nearly 200,000 members. Benefits to members include lower loan rates, higher savings yields, reduced fees, and a robust network of branches and ATMs
