Community leaders from three neighborhood associations in Pasadena have endorsed Tammy Silver in her campaign for the Board of Trustees at Pasadena City College, Silver’s office said in a statement Thursday.

The leaders who made the endorsement represent the Oak Knoll Neighborhood Association (OKNA), the Madison Heights Neighborhood Association (MHNA), and the Lombardy Road Neighborhood Association (LRNA), the statement said.

“Tammy Silver is a trusted name and a reliable voice who best represents our community,” Dean Kitchens, member of the Oak Knoll Neighborhood Association, is quoted as saying. “Pasadena City College is located right in our backyard and is the centerpiece of our district. That’s why we need someone on the PCC Board of Trustees who we can depend on. Tammy will put the interests of our students and our neighborhoods first.”

Silver currently serves as the President of OKNA.

Suzie Boyer, a member of the Madison Heights Neighborhood Association, said she has known Silver for 12 years and has “seen her dedicate countless hours to the students, residents, and non-profit organizations” in Pasadena.

“Pasadena City College needs leadership that is focused on making the college the absolute best in all of California,” Boyer continued. “I’m confident Tammy will be the leader PCC needs and deserves.”

Silver is running for the PCC Board of Trustees to represent Area 4. A small business owner and longtime Pasadena resident, Silver has been married to her husband Michael for over 30 years. Their elder son Daniel is currently a PhD student in educational policy, and their younger son, Jeffrey is a college student.

Silver sits on the South Lake Parking Place Commission. She also serves as the Chair of the Finland subcommittee with Pasadena Sister Cities and is a member of the Tournament of Roses Formation Area Committee.

Silver is also a volunteer tutor with Reading Partners and is active with College Access Plan. She is a chair of the Guardians Steering Committee at the Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center and is part of the Leadership Circle of Planned Parenthood.
