PCC Board of Trustees to Meet Wednesday

The Board of Trustees of the Pasadena Area Community College District will receive the Pasadena City College Superintendent/President’s report on Wednesday, February 20, during the Board’s Regular Business Meeting at the PCC Campus at 1570 E. Colorado Blvd.
The Board will also deliberate on several recommendations to approve various official and academic travel by faculty members and students, including a trip by two students and an advisor to the Annual American Chemical Society National Meeting at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida on March 29 through April 2, and a separate trip by eight students, two faculty members and one staff to the Experimental Biology Conference at the Hyatt Regency in Orlando on April 5 to 9.
Earlier this month, 36 students and four staff were at the Upward Bound Math-Science Senior Leadership Retreat, at the Pali Mountain Retreat in Running Springs.
On March 1 to 3, 36 students and four staff will travel to Las Vegas for the Winterguard International Regional Percussion Competition t Desert Pines High School. They will be performing in several rounds of the competition as well as observe outstanding performances from other colleges and high schools.
As a collegiate ensemble in an event that draws both college and high school ensembles from southern California, these performances also serve in recruitment for the PCC Music Department and help maintain PCC’s reputation as a leader in music education.
The Board will also act on various procurement and purchasing, as well as personnel and administration related matters during the meeting.
On March 1, members of the Pasadena Area Community College Strategic Planning Standing committee, BRAC, and the Institutional Effectiveness Committee (IEC), in addition to supplemental representatives from the Academic Senate, Management Association, Associated Students, and the Classified Senate meet at the 2019 Budget Retreat to review resource allocation requests generated through the PCC’s Annual Update process.
Members of the public are allowed to address the Board regarding any item on the agenda. They only need to complete a Request to Address the Board of Trustees form and give it to the Board Secretary before the beginning of the meeting. No public comment cards will be accepted after the start of the meeting.
Individual speakers are limited to three minutes, and the total audience participation on any agenda item is limited to 30 minutes.
The regular meeting on Wednesday begins with a closed sessions at 6 p.m. and proceeds to the public meeting at 7 p.m.
Meetings are held at the Creveling Lounge at the PCC campus.
