PCC Student Chapter Wins Green Chemistry Award

The American Chemical Society recently awarded Pasadena City College’s ACS student chapter with a Green Chemistry Award for its active engagement in environmentally sustainable practices.

As part of the commendation, the PCC Chemistry Club will be listed – along with 97 other student chapters nationwide – as award winners in various publications, including Chemical & Engineering News; the November/December issue of inChemistry, ACS’ student member magazine; and the ACS Green Chemistry Institute’s e-newsletter, The Nexus.

The award-winning chapters will also be honored at the 249th ACS National Meeting in Denver, Colo., on March 22, 2015.

“I am very proud of the PCC Chemistry Club’s dedication to promoting green chemistry and environmental sustainability,” said Dr. Veronica Jaramillo, instructor in the PCC Natural Sciences Department and Chemistry Club advisor. “This designation is important to the club in rewarding their efforts and inspiring them to continue in this path.”
