Pasadena City College is proud to be co-hosting the 8th annual International Conference on Internet Chinese Education, July 12-14. The theme of this year’s conference is “Chinese Language Teaching and Learning in the Cloud-Technology Era.”

This is the first time the conference will be in an international setting, organizers said, and PCC is honored to be a part of it.

“Mark the day,” said Dr. Mark Rocha, PCC superintendent-president. “This is a turning point in the history of the college.”

Registration for the conference will begin July 12 in Creveling Lounge at 8 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 9 a.m. in Sexson Auditorium.

“This is a unique collaborative opportunity. We are really looking forward to the conference,” said Tim Cheng, coordinator of the three-day conference.

Some of the panels will include PCC’s own language instructor Jingyu Xue, who will participate in the discussion on “The Integration of Online Simulation of International Negotiation into Chinese Curriculum.” Another panel will discuss the effectiveness Chinese character learning software.

More than 300 people are expected to attend the conference, with panelists from more than 15 countries holding discussions.

“As visitors today, they will be partners for our future,” Rocha said.
