The Association of Black Employees (TABE) at Pasadena City College (PCC) is hosting their 41st Annual Scholarship Celebration – A Breakfast, on Thursday, June 13, 8 to 10 a.m., in PCC’s Creveling Lounge.

Victoria Williams and Audrey E. Joseph are chairing the event, which offers a morning of fellowship, a delightful breakfast by Castle’s Catering, and photo memories as TABE gathers to honor its scholarship award recipients.

TABE has been providing support, networking, and mentoring opportunities for PCC students and employees since 1978.

When it was established, TABE was intended to formalize robust informal networks among African American employees, and to organize student-focused support, including scholarships.

Over the past 40 years, TABE has awarded over $50,000 to students in need who have made outstanding contributions to the college and their community.

This year, the organization will award the Deborah Grant Memorial Scholarship and the Champion Award Scholarship to four PCC students.

The organization will also honor Assemblyman Chris Holden of the 41st District with a Community Award recognizing his 30 consecutive years of public service to the Greater Pasadena Area. Assemblyman Holden has staunchly advocated for education, giving back to the community, protecting public health, and preserving civil rights.

PCC alumnus Bradley Miles, co-founder of Roll, a New York City-based blockchain company, will be the keynote speaker. He will also receive this year’s Outstanding Alumni Award.

Marilyn Johnson will receive the Jacqueline Dodds Memorial Award, and Tameka Alexander will receive the Ted James Footsteps Award.

Tickets for the breakfast are $25, $10 for students. Community members can also partner with TABE by joining as a Gold member for $1,000, Silver for $750, Bronze for $500, a Friend of TABE for $250, or a TABE supporter for $100. Funds raised will bene?t TABE scholarships and activities.

Ticket purchases or donations may be made by mail to PCC Foundation c/o Kris McPeak 1324 E. Green Street Pasadena, CA 91106.

Check should be made payable to Pasadena City College Foundation (write TABE in the “memo” line). Make sure your ticket purchase or donation is received by June 7.
