Police: Halloween Safety Tips

The Pasadena Police Department has released a list of tips for staying safe during Halloween for kids, teens, and parents trick-or-treating on the night of October 31.

“[To] ensure a safe and enjoyable Halloween this year, please review the Safety Tips provided by the Pasadena PD Community Services Section,” the department said on its Facebook page.

Among the tips:

• Be seen! Carry flashlights, wear brightly colored costumes, or add your own reflective tape (to them) so motorists can spot you.

• Stop at well-lit homes. Steer clear of dark houses!

• Know what you’re eating. Have all candies and treats examined by a trusted adult.

• To avoid tripping or falling, wear well-fitting masks, costumes, and shoes.

• There’s safety in numbers. Travel in groups and plan the route ahead of time to keep everyone on track.

• Avoid the street. Walk on sidewalks or the far edge of the road to stay safe.

Also remember — if you “see something, say something.” Any suspicious activity, such as people lurking in your neighborhood or following you should be reported report promptly to the police.
