Pasadena police officers arrested a 27-year-old Los Angeles man for felony evading early Wednesday after a brief pursuit in the area of Lake Avenue and Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena.

Lt. Mark Goodman said the officers were on patrol when they saw the suspect run a red light at Lake Avenue and Colorado Blvd. past 4:10 a.m. and initiated a traffic stop.

“The suspect failed to yield, and a short vehicle pursuit ensued during which the suspect ran a red signal and disregarded traffic laws,” Goodman said. “The pursuit ended when the suspect tried to enter a parking structure but was prevented from doing so by a barrier blocking the entrance. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested and booked for felony evading and driving with a suspended driver’s license.”

The suspect was identified as Hector Maya, 27, a Los Angeles resident, who is currently in custody.

Goodman said the pursuit lasted under two minutes and covered a distance of a little over a mile. There were no injuries and no property damage as a result of the incident, he added.
