A man and a woman in a car stolen from El Monte led Pasadena police Monday night on a four minute, little over two mile vehicle chase on surface streets and on the freeway in Pasadena , which ended when the duo’s car – going in the wrong direction  – crashed into another vehicle on a surface street.

The driver of the stolen vehicle is still at Huntington Memorial Hospital, where his condition was not immediately known. His passenger, an unidentified woman, was treated and released from the hospital, said Pasadena police Sgt. Victor Alaniz.

She was eventually arrested for grand theft auto and some stolen property that was inside the stolen Honda Accord, Alaniz said.

The person in other vehicle struck by the suspects’ vehicle was also injured. That person’s condition was not immediately known.

About 8:30 p.m. Monday, an older model Honda Accord sped through a red light at Hudson Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, he said.

“Basically, that started the pursuit,’’ Alaniz said.

At some point during the chase, the suspects got on the Foothill (210) Freeway for brief period and then exited. The pair got back on the freeway, eventually getting off at the Altadena exit, where the car turned north onto Sierra Madre Boulevard – into the southbound lanes of traffic, the police sergeant said.

The vehicle pursuit ended when the suspects’ vehicle hit a southbound car, Alaniz said.
