Pasadena police were called to the scenes of two large fights Saturday night, each involving 50 to 60 persons, according to an estimate made by officers on board a police helicopter.

One incident occurred in the area of Navarro Avenue at West Montana Street. The second incident was on West Claremont Street just west of North Fair Oaks.

A witness told Pasadena Now “there was a bunch of people …  like if it was a riot.”

Numerous officers and paramedics reportedly responded to each scene about 8:30 p.m.

Authorities said Pasadena officers “called off” requests for mutual aid assistance from outside agencies after they were able to gain the upper hand and got control of both situations.

Pasadena Police Lt. Kim Smith said there were no arrests or injuries at either scene. Calm was restored to each location after about one hour.

It is unknown if the two incidents were related, she said.
