Pasadena Police officers arrested a 23-year-old Pasadena man and a 20-year-old woman from Lakewood after a loaded gun was found in the vehicle the man was driving Tuesday during a traffic stop near Esther Street and Raymond Avenue, according to authorities.

Police said the gun recovered Tuesday was in addition to the 149 taken into custody so far this year.

Police said a one-year-old child was also found in the vehicle after Special Enforcement Section officers initiated the traffic stop for traffic violations.

The driver, identified as Preston Earl Lee, turned out to be on parole.

As officers were interviewing the vehicle’s occupants, the woman, Alexis Mitchell, reportedly told them there was a loaded firearm in the vehicle.

Officers searched and found the gun, and arrested Lee and Mitchell without incident.

Lee was being held without bail in the Pasadena City Jail. Mitchell is in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Lt. Jason Clawson said that prior to the incident, a total 149 firearms had been taken into custody by Pasadena Police so far this year.
