President Donald Trump has appointed W. Robert Kohorst of California as United States Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Croatia.
Kohorst was one of 42 presidential nominees listed in an announcement Saturday by the White House Press Office.
Kohorst is the President and Founder of Everest Properties in Pasadena, and a prominent American businessman with expertise in real estate and finance. His company is a large commercial enterprise that purchases and operates apartment, self-storage and retail properties throughout the United States.
According to the Everest Properties website http://www.everestproperties.com, from 1984 through 1990, Kohorst was the President of the Private Placement Group for Public Storage, Inc., a national U.S. real estate syndicator. In 1990, he became the Chief Executive Officer and principal of two businesses, Tiger Shark Golf, Inc., a golf equipment manufacturer, and Masquerade International, Inc., a manufacturer of Halloween costumes.
In 1991, Kohorst co-founded KH Financial, Inc., the predecessor to Everest, which engaged in the acquisition of general partner interests, real estate companies and related assets.
In a news release announcing his nomination, the Office of the Press Secretary mentioned that Kohorst has contributed to public service organizations and educational institutions as director and chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization (San Gabriel Valley Chapter), Regent of Loyola Marymount University, Trustee of La Salle High School in Pasadena, and President of the San Gabriel Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America in Los Angeles.
He earned a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.S. from the University of Dayton.
