Meghan Markle, a.k.a. the Duchess of Sussex, could be coming home to California soon after it was reported she and Prince Harry have been hunting for a second home in the Southland, and even considered Pasadena.

Her acquaintances, including British-born Pasadena entrepreneur Edmund Fry, who owns a tea house called The Rose Tree Cottage located near Huntington Hospital, say Markle and Prince Harry appear to have narrowed down their search to Malibu Beach.

Reports say Fry and other Los Angeles-based friends earlier were enlisted by the couple to scout the Pacific Coast Highway and Pasadena for potential homes.

“Meghan and Harry are looking for a place out here,” Fry told The Daily Express. “Knowing Meghan and talking to her, she misses home.”

Markle could be looking for a place where she could be away from British media, Fry said.

“It is possible to live stress-free and out of the glare of publicity here,” he told the Express. “LA and California are so huge, it is easy to escape to places with your family and just blend in with everyone.”

Fry, 79, said he first met Markle when he taught her royal etiquette in Pasadena at Rose Tree Cottage after she began dating Harry. She also visited while she was preparing to meet the Queen for the first time, he said.

Since royal biographer Andrew Morton wrote about Markle’s visits to the tea house, the place has been inundated with people keen to perfect their own etiquette skills.

“Now we’re packed every day and we take reservations as far away as Shanghai,” Fry told The Sun back in 2018. “ People come from all over the world.”

The first Rose Tree was in a courtyard of cottages on California Blvd. In 2008, Fry and his wife Mary, an Oklahoma native, moved the shop to a grand old house at 801 S. Pasadena Avenue, where it’s been ever since.

Talking to the Express, Fry joked his tea house would happily supply Prince Harry with home comforts, if they ever settle nearby.

“He will get everything he needs here – his bangers and bacon. I mean, she has changed his diet to a degree, but all the necessary food he can get here in Los Angeles, particularly at Rose Tree. We carry it all,” Fry said.
