Rabbi Sharon Brous, a founding member of Los Angeles-based Ikar will be featured at the Rector’s Forum at Pasadena’s All Saints Church on Sunday, April 10, 2015, from 10:15 to 11 a.m.

The Rector’s Forum at All Saints Church has a long history of bringing speakers with national and international influence to speak on issues that touch the hearts, souls and minds of members of All Saints Church and the wider Pasadena area community – as well as local leaders whose work and witness inspire.

Recognized as “the nation’s most influential rabbi” by Newsweek and The Daily Beast in 2013, Rabbi Brous offered the blessing at the second Obama/Biden Inaugural National Prayer Service and is a much sought-after guest speaker and interviewee.

Rabbi Brous launched Ikar (Hebrew for “essence”) in California with just four other people in 2004. Now it has quickly become one of the fastest growing Jewish communities in the country, with some 600 affiliated households. 2,000 people were welcomed to services over the last High Holy Days.

Described as “a laboratory for bold, imaginative Jewish practice that is rooted in a deep commitment to social justice,” Ikar is one of a new wave of independent congregations set up outside the established synagogue movements that are beginning to change the map of Jewish America.
